Robben Island is an island in Table Bay, 6.9 km west of the coast of Bloubergstrand, Cape Town, South Africa. The island is known for the fact that Nelson Mandela was imprisoned there for 18 years. Kgalema Motlan and the current President of South Africa Jacob Zuma served also time on Robben Island.
